Google Toolbar PageRank Update in September?

Has anyone else noticed a Google Toolbar PageRank update lately? I woke up this morning to notice that the home page of Web Analytics World has gone up from 4 to 6 and many of the individual posts have increased from 0 to 2, 0 to 4 and the odd one at PR 5.

A random check across a few Google Data centers reveals it has propagated everywhere.

Data Center Page Rank
66.249.89.44 6
66.249.91.19 6
66.249.93.44 6
72.14.203.100 6
216.239.59.18 6

The interesting part of this story is that 4 months ago I updated the URL of my blog from a blogspot domain (http://manojjasra.blogspot.com/) to http://www.webanalyticsworld.net/. With proper 301 redirects in a place along with a detailed strategy of updating prominent back-links (using emails, Twitter, Facebook and posts) we noticed an immediate PageRank of 4 after 2 months.

  1. I heard that Google were about to update their Page Rankings, so I was curious to see how mine would look. Particularly on my blog – my visitor numbers have shot up in the last 6-8 weeks and now hover around the 5-figure mark for monthly average visitors.

The Page Rank has stayed the same at PR3, so now I’m curious whether or not Google perhaps “penalize” hosted blogs as opposed to self-hosted?

What makes me wonder this even more is that Alexa has recognized my traffic gain (large jump up their scale), while Google has remained static. Perhaps the next update might show different results?

Hi Manoj, I noticed my personal blog (http://www.chrisdavies.ca) got bumped up from 1 to 3. I was expecting some movement as my backlink profile has grown quite a bit over the last while and I’ve noticed strong improvement in organic referrals.

I’ll be doing some checking at work on Monday.

Man to think I just launched my website, http://www.puredezigner.com back in the middle of July 2008. I remember reading about the PR updates that were taking place at the end of the July, that’s when I was thinking to myself, man 3-6 months before the next update. But when I check my Alexa stat this evening I noticed something else. I just now finally had an update to my PR, From PR0 to PR3! It’s a simple website based on CSS and XHTML validated web projects I have in my portfolio, non the less, I am very happy about this update to my first ever SEO efforts in web. I’d love to see examples and reports on how your current SEO efforts are going and possible results from from the latest Google PR update, please share your updates with us?

    Thanks,
    Curtis

  5. Ahhh, just came across this blog post while searching Google News for “Google PageRank” as I couldn’t quite believe my eyes as I’ve only had my site live for 3 weeks and I was just checking my backlinks via SEOQuake.com toolbar (which is a great tool if you don’t already use btw) and then I noticed my GPR was 2, from it’s N/A status.

Kind of gutted though, I was hoping the toolbar update was more fluid, but no, looks like I just caught the update in time. Ahhh. :(

And on a brighter note/work related not, I just checked over clients sites and all up. At least this is one thing that isn’t connected to the ‘credit crunch’.

I do not know if Google updates the pagerank, but I already has over 1 years with a PR4, every time Google does not put it more difficult to attract visitors to our site, Google wants all the web traffic for them, is not just be left to compete and I am trying to get by with Google Adsense.Pero really earn a pittance if you have it 5 to attract more visitors.

    Greetings.
