VisiStat Founder Nominated in National Geographic Photo Contest

Manoj Jasra - Friday, November 14, 2008 3 Comments

In some off topic and exciting news I just became aware of the fact that, VisiStat Analytics' Co-Founder, Stephen Oachs, has been named as a finalist in National Geographic's Photo Contest for 3 of his photos.

Below is part of the official press release:

There is one universally recognized magazine that makes the heart of an intrepid outdoor and nature photographer beat a little faster. When Fine Art Photographer and Entrepreneur, Stephen Oachs, learned not one, but three, of his photographs were selected for the National Geographic International Photography Contest, he was thrilled.

To see all the entries, and to vote for Stephen's photos, visit http://ngm.nationalgeographic.com/photo-contest/photo-contest

I have added Stephen's photos below (click on them to see the larger version)

wow they are beautiful. The snow leopard one must have scared the crap out of the motion sensor camera.

Actually erikj, this was taken in person -- I did not use a motion sensor camera. I spent days on this shoot to capture this photograph, in the freezing temperatures. Thanks for your kind words and, hopefully, your "10" votes!

Beautiful shots, Stephen. Definite 10s!!! Most of us would be elated if only 1 of our photos made it to the finals - - - but 3? WOW!! As a possible entrant I have a question for you about this contest: How do you, as the photographer, "justify" the contest rule that seems to be NG the absolute right to use or change your photo (and/or identity) in any way, at any time, for any purpose? It looks like you are be giving up all "moral rights" in those exquisite photos - and any future income they may generate. I've read several discussions about this but never heard directly from one who was involved. Your 1st hand opinion is appreciated.

    CONGRATULATIONS!
