Boston Celtics Will Repeat: 5 Reasons Why

Manoj Jasra - Wednesday, December 24, 2008 3 Comments

It's Christmas Eve so I wanted to take a little bit of a break from the Search Marketing/Analytics posts and talk about something nearly as close to my heart - NBA Basketball. Christmas Day is all about family, sharing, great food and of course presents but it also features some great matchups including: Lakers vs. Celtics and San Antonio vs. Phoenix.
Being from Canada I am naturally a Steve Nash fan and cheer for the Suns. However, the Boston Celtics are great too and are the team to beat this year. Below are 5 reasons why the Celtics will repeat as NBA Champs come playoff time.
  1. With Kevin Garnett as the anchor/catalyst, the Boston defence is far too strong and difficult to score against.
  2. If Ray Allen gets hot it's over. When Allen gets into a rhythm he could stay hot for days and believe me it will be raining 3's everyone of those days.
  3. Paul Pierce can go for 30 anytime he wants. Have you seen that baby fade away of his, it's nearly unstoppable. Add his sharp slashes to the hole and you've go instant offence every game.
  4. Rajan Rondo is turning into one of the best guards in the league. I wish I picked up Rondo in my fantasy pool because he has been delivering 20 points and 7-10 dimes for the last few games. He has added another year's experience and now you've got a legitimate general setting up your offence.
  5. Chemistry - The core group of Celtics are still there from last year and are off to an even hotter start than last year. I don't want them to win 70 (because I want the Bulls of the 90's to be the only ones with that record) but I know 65 wins is easily in sight.

    Manoj,

I share your passion for sports though I lean more NFL than NBA. Still, picking the Celtics this year feels like picking the Patriots to win the Super Bowl last year. Kind of a lock.

Of course, we all know how that worked out. Which is what makes sports so cool. Crank all the numbers you want, and you'll still never have anything better than a good guess.

I'd have to agree with you, though - they're probably a better team this year than last.

I have doubts about Ray Allen though.

And anyway, shouldn't you be following the NHL now!

    Happy Holidays!

    Hi Gary,

I think the Lakers/Cavs (and maybe even the Spurs) will still make it tight for Boston.

We are cheering for our Vancouver Canucks in the NHL (even though we just moved to Calgary).

    Happy Holidays to you too!

As a fellow Boston fan, I had to show some support and repost this to my facebook. I'm definitely keeping the hope alive for the Celtics since my Pats aren't on top of their game.

    Thanks for the post!
