Do you have a Google Site and were having difficulty tracking the performance of your Google Site in the past, then you need not worry because you can now track your Google Site with Google Analytics.
-
Go to Google Analytics, sign in and create a new account.
-
Once you’ve finished creating it, click Add Website Profile at the bottom of the page.
-
Ensure that the option labeled ‘Add a Profile for a new domain’ is selected, and enter the URL of your Google site. When entering your URL, please keep these recommendations in mind:
- If you’ve mapped your Google site to another web address, e.g., www.example.com, then enter that address.
- If you haven’t mapped the Google site to a web address, then you need to enter sites.google.com, not your full site address.
- Make sure you click the Finish button when you’re done. -
Once you click Finish, Google Analytics displays HTML. This is not what you need for Google Sites. You can click “Continue” to finish the registration. Upon finishing the registration, the website profile screen will appear. There you’ll see the registered website with a number in the format of “UA-XXXXXX-XX”. This is the code that you will need in order to get Analytics to work with your Google Sites site. Copy that code and then access the “Site Settings” in your Google site.
-
Go to the Google Site that will be tracked by Analytics.
-
Click Site Settings, then Other Stuff, and enter the tracking ID in the section labelled ‘Statistics.’
