Twitter to Launch: Lists

Over at the Twitter Blog, Project Lead: Nick Kallen mentions that Twitter is testing out a new component called Lists. Twitter Lists allow users to create logical groupings of different individuals - since they are public, other Twitter users can also subscribe to lists that you create. Twitter Lists are currently in beta therefore there will be some testing before they role out to everyone. Nick also mentions that this feature will be available to the API in addition to the web.
...you could create a list of the funniest Twitter accounts of all time, athletes, local businesses, friends, or any compilation that makes sense...Other Twitter users can then subscribe to your lists. This means lists have the potential to be an important new discovery mechanism for great tweets and accounts.
