Marketing your eBook with Online Video
Welcome to the Online Video Masterclass. Today we’ll be looking at how you can use online video to promote your eBook.
So let’s get started.
1) Create Personable Videos
Think of your video as a much more powerful version of that author profile picture you always find at the back of a book. That picture allows readers to connect the book with the author, and build a firm bond between the reader and the author as well.
Video can achieve much the same effect, but on a grander scale. Due to the engaging properties of video, personal one-to-one videos recorded on something as simple as a Webcam can be a fantastic way of reaching out to potential customers, and building a strong connection between them and your eBook.
2) Make Use of Live Streaming
Google+ has been making waves due to its Hangout feature, but now users can record their live Hangouts too. This means that as an author you can organise live talks with current customers, potential customers and industry experts to talk about your eBook.
These live videos could discuss any FAQ’s you might have received about your book or discuss key chapters and points from it. These videos can be recorded and then re-purposed on your site for new visitors to watch too. This will build confidence and trust in prospective buyers and ensure your eBook gets that all important sale.
3) Create Video Responses
Video sharing sites like YouTube allow you to Video Respond to other videos. These Video Responses work a lot like Comments, giving you an opportunity to discuss topical issues and debates through video.
This will be a great asset when it comes to spreading the word about your Ebook. There will undoubtedly be videos out there that deal with topics and subjects that you touch upon in your own book. You should aim to use these videos as platforms to talk about your own eBook and the value it can add to problems and current issues in your industry.
By getting involved with topical issues around your eBook, you can spread the word about it whilst showing thought leaders and potential customers in your niche that what you have created is of real value to them.
4) Create Testimonials
eBooks can often be a tricky media to market. Many online users are still sceptical about signing up to receive eBooks no matter how much they cost. The reason for this is down to the fact you can’t see the content until you’ve purchased it, unlike a traditional book in a store.
To compensate for this hesitancy it is crucial for you to build and establish trust with your potential customers and online visitors. One of the best ways to do this is to film testimonials of your eBook or one of your previous releases.
This will give prospective customers the opportunity to see the value in your eBook and help to affirm that is of benefit to them. Perhaps give a few eBooks away for free in return for a couple of testimonial videos. The positive impact testimonials have on shoppers is staggering, which will ensure you balance out the cost of giving away a few copies of your eBook in no time at all.
