What is Predictive Analytics?
Actually it’s exactly what it sounds like – using historical data to predict future trends. For example, when looking at our overview in Analytics for WAW from Jan 1stto Apr 30th our sessions data looks like gently rolling waves with peaks on a Tuesday (our set posting date) and troughs over the weekend. From that historical data I can predict that our current data overview will look very similar for the same dates in 2015.
We’ve been improving the structure and content of Web Analytics Worlds and in January we predicted that while the waves would still be the same rolling “shape”, we would see higher peaks and in 2015 when comparing to the previous year and that’s exactly what we have seen:
Now, this is a very, very basic example of Predictive Analytics and how you could use it to predict future trends for your own business or company. At the PAW Conference you can learn about more advanced methods of Predictive Analytics and how it can improve your business insights and ultimate increase your success for example Dean Abott’s workshop will give you the opportunity to try modelling techniques with Statistica Data Miner.
