Coldwell Banker Launches iPhone Platform

Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC today became the first full-service national real estate brand to launch a customized online platform for iPhoneTM users.

The Coldwell Banker flagship Web site, coldwellbanker.com, now has a different look and feel, along with navigation specifically tailored for optimal viewing on the iPhone, most notably with the property listings search and home value estimator functions. When a user accesses the site through his or her handset, the Coldwell Banker Web site automatically recognizes that it is being accessed by an iPhone, and will serve up the special iPhone interface. iPhone users do not need to download any special software to benefit from this enhancement to the Coldwell Banker mobile technology.

“Providing easy access to real-time real estate information is critical for consumers in the home buying and selling process,” said Michael Fischer, senior vice president of marketing for Coldwell Banker Real Estate LLC. “Distribution of listings is crucial in today’s environment. Our mobile society is moving away from the desktop and utilizing cell phones and PDAs for more and more content and entertainment. With so many connecting to the Web by phone, we have to be where the consumer is in a way that makes sense.”

Those looking for a home will be able to search for homes and utilize the brand’s home value estimator. In addition, consumers will be able to enter specific search criteria such as city, state, price as well as optional filters including number of bedrooms and bathrooms. When a property is selected, iPhone users can view all of the specifications for that home and contact an agent directly.

“Now more than ever consumers want to access information about a home as they see it, pass it or hear about,” continued Fischer. “Being in front of a computer should not be mandatory.”

Mobile Web Analytics and Statistics for the iPhone

Clicky Web Analytics now lets you monitor your web site traffic remotely from your iPhone. As the global trend of access to information anywhere anytime continues, Clicky Mobile fits right in. Real-time analytics meets mobile flexibility.

In addition to the iPhone version, Clicky also offers a generic version for other mobile devices. The iPhone version takes advantage of the aesthetic and Javascript abilities. It looks great and feels like an application. Since Clicky Mobile is built off the WebKit platform, it will also work on the new Android phones when they are released, as well as any other mobile browser based on WebKit.

Just like Clicky, the mobile interface is clean and simple. It is more designed for that quick fix on the go, rather than a full substitute for the web site, but in that regard it delivers as promised.

The iPhone version even includes a its own Spy mode, which streams pageviews and other actions LIVE as they are happening on your web site. If you get more than a few thousand visitors per day, you can sit for hours and watch people use your web site live. It’s a lot of fun and great to have that feature on the go.

Once you have registered and installed the tracking code on your site, just go to http://m.getclicky.com/ from your mobile device. It will automatically detect which version your mobile device supports and direct you to the right one.

The weekly market share of visits to the AT&T Wireless website is up 30 percent for the week ending July 5, 2008 as compared to the week prior to last year’s iPhone launch. Last week’s traffic level was second only to the week of Christmas (week ending Dec. 29, 2007) with last week ranking as the second highest week in traffic over the past 24 months for the exclusive iPhone provider.

Who is visiting the iPhone website – 3G versus original iPhone

Hitwise demographic data reveals that for the four weeks ending July 5, 2008, 34.75 percent of visitors to the Apple iPhone website were from users between the ages of 18-24 years, comprising the largest age group of visitors to the site. More than 54 percent of users to the website had incomes between $30,000 and $99,999 and 51 percent were Male for that same time period.

Compared to the last launch week in 2007, U.S. visits to the iPhone website from users 45 and older have increased 11 percent while users with incomes between $60K -$150K have increased 9 percent. The U.S. visits from women are up 2 percent compared to the launch week in 2007.

iPhone Finally Coming to Canada

The long awaited iPhone is finally coming to Canada as well as over 20 other countries on July 11th. The new 3G iPhone is expected to cost half as much ($199 for the 8 gb model) as is supposed to have a faster internet connection (running on advanced wireless networks) as well as upgraded software.

Slashing the price of the 3G iPhone from $399 to $199 is a big change for Apple at a time when more mainstream consumers are looking to upgrade from regular cellphones to smart phones, said Kaan Yigit, a consultant with Solutions Research Group in Toronto. “All of a sudden, they’ve turned the iPhone from a much-loved and admired device, but not owned by many, into a mass-appeal and attainable mainstream device,” he said.

Only about 12 per cent of Canadian cellphone owners are using smart phones, which means the growth potential for all companies selling Internet-enabled mobile devices is ready to explode, now that the devices are in their price range, he said.

Forbes: The 3G iPhone is a machine designed to gobble up market share. The device will build on Apple’s splashy arrival in the handset market last year. Apple lost ground when it choked off the supply of the original iPhone ahead of the launch of this 3G version. Six months after putting out the iPhone last year, Apple had seized 26.7% of the U.S. smart phone market in the final quarter of 2007. Tech market tracker IDC reported June 6 that Apple had sagged to 19.2% during the first quarter of this year, well behind rival Research in Motion (nasdaq: RIMMnews - people ), which dominates the market with its 44.5% share.

iPhone Not Happening in China

Many sources around the Internet have been following the story behind China Mobile and Apple regarding the introduction of the iPhone, however today it has been reported that China Mobile has walked away from negotiations.

“We can only say that negotiations have ended for now,” a spokeswoman for China Mobile Communications told the AP. “We have no other news to report.” Chinese Internet portal Sina.com promptly started reporting that (surprise, surprise), the deal-breaker was likely the 20-to-30 percent revenue share agreement Apple was likely demanding – Wired Blog.
