Affiliate Management is an interesting mix of commercial, technical and “deal making” skills. It will attract people from a wide variety of backgrounds however marketing and selling are fundamentally what it is all about. Affiliate management is a fairly specific job title and yet it covers a variety of employment situations. e.g. the “publisher” who has an audience engaged for a particular purpose and who are potential buyers, the “advertiser” with goods or services to sell and the “manager” who acts as a facilitator between publishers and advertisers, providing technology, payments systems and encouragement …. taking of course their handling fee for their efforts!
