The Information Security graphed profile is an unusual one in that it forms two distinct peaks. Despite over 200 open live job positions being surveyed there is no “classic” bell shaped curve. (SEE BELOW DATA GRAPHED FOR DEC 2011)
Perhaps this is not so surprising when you consider the wide range of responsibilities and technical knowledge that is required in many of these positions.
At the highest level, international companies, with critical data needs, require legal compliance in numerous jurisdictions and face a multitude of technical challenges.
At the lower end, even basic compliance with data protection law and protection from both physical and cyber theft and attack is becoming highly demanding.
In the last few months we have observed a distinct upward trend in average salary for positions with “information security” in the title.
