Here at Jump Digital (proud owners of Web Analytics World!) we actively discourage self-promotion in posts … but, given that it was we who made the rule, we reckon, just this once, that we can break it!
Over two years ago, we set out to create qualifications in digital marketing education that offered something genuinely credible and valuable in the market.
Qualifications that employers would recognise and reward and now we are excited to launch the Digital Marketing Professional Certificate (DMP) in collaboration with the University of Aberdeen.
The DMP is highly accessible, delivered 100% online, and allows you to work at your own pace. As soon as you have worked your way through the videos and support materials, you are awarded a completion certificate by the University of Aberdeen. There is no need to sit exams and there is no academic entry qualification requirement.
There are over 20 hours of credit for continuing professional development (for those that need to keep their CPD “topped up”).
It’s been a great deal of hard work, and we have learned a huge amount along the way, but partnering with a university founded over 500 years ago, and which is consistently ranked among the top 1% in the world, has always been the true differentiating factor.
The DMP follows-on from our already established MSc in Digital Marketing Leadership degree, which is also delivered fully online and awarded by the University of Aberdeen.
The DMP can be used as a route into the degree programme for suitable candidates.
A Gap in the Market
Increasingly, employers of all sizes, and across all sectors, are seeking out candidates who can evidence a blend of skills and experience across different areas of digital marketing. In particular, the more senior positions, (requiring strategic digital thinking and business acumen) are becoming very difficult to fill.
Leaders in senior digital marketing positions will, ideally, have the confidence and ability to cross internal barriers and communicate with IT departments, marketing, sales and management etc. When we first approached the university with our ideas we tried to summarise all this into three words “Digital Marketing Leadership”.
The fast changing world of digital marketing results in an ever widening gap between what is being taught in “traditional” academia and what is current industry best practice.
We all know that there are plenty of digital marketing training courses; seminars; events and qualifications already in the market however most are tactical, concerning themselves with particular topics and techniques.
We have structured both the DMP and Masters degree differently. We continually encourage you to make the connections between strategy and activity. We don’t teach anything in isolation and encourage you to approach everything with a strategic mind-set.
It could be argued that effective leadership in digital marketing doesn’t require deep expertise in anything, but it does require you to know something about almost everything!

The course content is delivered 100% online and is video based. It blends “face to camera” dialogues; video’s of “client” meetings and “over the shoulder” walkthroughs where our digital marketing team get hands-on, reviewing and dissecting websites, using specialist tools to analyse the digital profile of businesses online, exploring advertising and targeting tactics and more.
