Here at Jump Digital (proud owners of Web Analytics World!) we actively discourage self-promotion in posts … but, given that it was we who made the rule, we reckon, just this once, that we can break it!

Over two years ago, we set out to create qualifications in digital marketing education that offered something genuinely credible and valuable in the market.

Qualifications that employers would recognise and reward and now we are excited to launch the Digital Marketing Professional Certificate (DMP) in collaboration with the University of Aberdeen.

Image of happy white stickman with blue graduation cap and diploimaOne thing is for sure … they take responsibility for the “big decisions” and often enjoy the salary and benefits to match!

Digital Marketing is undoubtedly one of the hottest disciplines in today’s corporate world and this is reflected in the growing number of vacancies, particularly for senior and strategic roles however many hiring managers find it difficult to recruit with confidence – these are often newly created roles and this is an evolving discipline.

Lastest Salary Research: UK Digital Jobs Sept.2012

September average salaries for web developer, web designer and marketing  jobs are revealed in our latest survey.

Last quarter we commented on the decline in Online/Digital Marketing Manager average salaries and speculated whether this would “cross” with the average for Social Media Managers. It appears that the downward trend reversed itself slightly and Online/Digital Marketing managers retain the upper hand .. at least for now .

As SEO changes in its nature and complexity it appears that job titles  are reflecting this and “Specialist or Consultants” are on the upward trend compared to “Executives”

Average advertised UK Web Salaries  Sept. 2012 (£k)

Online/Digital Marketing Manager 39.7

Social Media Manager 36.6

 SEO Specialist/Consultant 31.4  Manager  34.7  Executive 24.1

 Affiliate Manager 32.8

Web Analytics/Analyst 37.8

Web Developer 34.0   Web Designer 27.9

Web Analyst Salary Review

Web Analyst / Analytics Salary Review UK June 2012

Web Analytics and, increasingly,  Social Media Analytics should sit at the heart of effective digital marketing execution.

The tools available to any web analyst these days are quite amazing in terms of both variety of function and cost effectiveness.  If an analyst is working in a large enterprise setup then the tools will tend to reflect this and often the more sophisticated (and expensive) tools will be deployed – however in most situations a good analyst needs to research and then deploy tools from the vast array available ( from cheap to completely free)

A good analyst not only understands the tools available and knows how to use them but (crucially) can produce results in a way (and with suitable explanation) that informs colleagues and gives them the information that guides activity in line with strategic objectives.

 Web Analytics  / Analyst

– 23% of sample salaries fell in this range (31-36)

– median salary range is £31-36k
– average salary  is £36.5k pa

Get your share of E-Commerce Growth

Are you getting your share of the retail pie? The latest e-commerce figures from U.S. Department of Commerce continue to prove the increasing influence of e-commerce on total retail sales.

Not every retail business is suited to online transactions however it is obvious that e-commerce continues to “eat in” to the nations total retail spend.

E-commerce* was 5.1% ($54.8 billion) of total retail sales of £1.077 Trillion. At 5.1% that of course leaves 94.9% that is not considered to be e-commerce however the fact is that the value of total retail sales actually declined from Q1 to Q2 whils the value of the e-commerce portion increased.
