As part of our online consulting work we analyse our clients’ competitors in various ways.
Within the area of keywords we analyse the competition to identify more effective and commercial keyword which can be used in onsite search engine optimisation. In social media terms we analyse them to identify any smart tactics that they may be using in the social media world.
However this video looks at putting our clients site side by side with their competitors and benchmarking them against agreed high level measures and metrics.
The examples shown in the video illustrate how we can compare multiple sites side by side on key criteria.
The first graph shows three example websites compared on the total number of top 20 commercial ranking keywords they had on Google over the previous 18 months. The second graph compares the same companies on the number of Google Adwords they have been running over the same previous 18 months.
In both graphs the same example company is shown to be better represented in natural Google Rankings and paid Google Listings.
It is also possible to compare and analyse your website against your competitors’ in terms of overall site authority and back link numbers, even drilling down into the detail and analysing competitor back link profiles. See our link building video for more information on this topic.
